Joe Moore – What the Library Means to Me

?

Story courtesy of Largo Library’s publication, Bookmark

Every Tuesday for many years Joe Moore arrives at Largo Library to meet his reading tutor, Dawn Chisholm.? Dawn is a volunteer with the Literacy Council of Upper Pinellas.? Joe’s initial goal was to learn to read well enough to share story books with Madison,
his great niece.

As a result of using the library study rooms, Joe expanded his goals to include learning how to use library resources, and how to find and auto-check out books of interest to challenge his vocabulary and imagination.? Joe says “doing my tutoring at Largo Library is inspiring, everyone is here to read books or use the computer.? The staff in every department is always friendly and helpful.”
