New this year:  The annual essay contest has been expanded
to include so much more!

Entries for 2017’s contest may include original written essays
as in past years, but also may include poems, short stories, speeches,or dramatic pieces to be read at the
LCUP Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast on
October 7, 2017 at Honeymoon Island State Park. 

Here are the details:

The celebration of literacy is an opportunity for LCUP Adults Learners to be creative and demonstrate their literacy skills at the annual LCUP Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast on October 7, 2017, at Honeymoon Island State Park. 

You may:

  • Write an original essay, poem, or short story and read it

  • Read a published essay, poem, speech, or short story

  • Share an experience in your life

  • Perform a Readers Theater dramatic reading with other students

 

Rules: Each presentation will be limited to 3 minutes. LCUP tutors may help Adult Learners prepare their performances and submit applications.
